This was the first statue we saw. He was huge, as you can see,
more then seven stories tall. This is the 'Walking Man'. |
My caption says it all. Don't you just feel like that some days? |
|
|

|
Statuary and public art were huge. Everywhere you went
there were monuments, artpieces and things of beauty. This was taken from
the bus (as were many of my snapshots) as we took the tour of the city.
|
Now is this a place for lovers or what? The
river leads directly to the Schonheits Palace, which will be highlighted
on page 3.
 |
|
This was so typical, I left it fairly large, so click on the photo and you'll
get a very good taste of what most of the streets looked like. There was
such charm, the cobblestones added a great deal to that, and the colourful
shutters and of course the flowers everywhere.
 |
|
 |
Is this a gorgeous view or what? All the flowers, the towers in the
background and the ancient bricks. MMMMmmmm, German perfection.
|
|
Look at the sky. The weather
was simply fabulous the entire time. It was never too hot (Except one day
in Vienna) and never too cold (except one day in Vienna) and the sky was crystal
blue.
|

The building with the two towers, Die Frauenkirche, (One is hiding, due to the
mis-judgement of what I saw through the viewfinder and where the lens actually
was) is Munich's most recognizable landmark. On page 3, I'll give you a
tour of the tower, and what you can see from its heights |

We did do some shopping in every country. Ok, a fair amount. I
loved the Lord of the Rings poster in German. In all of our differences,
we have many of the same likes and experiences. This, along with Pizza Hut
and Kentucky Fried, Burger King and of course McDonalds, reminded me that the
world was certainly getting smaller.
|

Mom and Crystal looking at Music Boxes, a typical German handicraft. |
Who can resist a spiral staircase? I left this one extra large so if you
click on it you can see all the detail of the wares for offering. Shapes
and curves have always captured my artistic flair.
|
Being the doll collector that I am. . . or once was. . . this little display
in the only 'Mall' we allowed ourselves to visit took my attention.
Notice the wonderful costumes and the colours. Very German.
|
 |
This
was over the doorway of one of the buildings. It captured my attention,
especially because of the inlaid stones.
 |
|

I liked the textures and the look of the stones in the rail tracks.
Public transportation was fabulous. The city was clean and easy to
maneuver.
|

I watched this little lady walk along the street. People's lives intrigue
me completely. I wondered about her, who her loved ones were, where she
was going, or coming from, and how she enjoyed living in Germany. Life
clips on so quickly, I just relished the moment to watch and enjoy a pocket of
stillness amongst the busy.
